Raining Again!

What a long summer! Normally I don't mind some rain...actually love a good storm even, but this summer has been too damn wet! I have heard all sorts of numbers. 8th wettest summer, 7th wettest July, etc.,. All I know is I am over it! really over it! Ha! Probably even longer, cuz Mike has been in Louisiana since April 27th. Kelli Sue and I went down at the end of June to see him for 4 days. And then he surprised me for my birthday in July, for 5 days. So in total, he has had 2 breaks for 14 days, of which 2 of those days were travel to and from AK. WOW! Kelli Sue has been here in AK, but working on the slope and loving it. She has had 2 -3 week shifts and is now up there again for 2 weeks, and then 1 week here and then back to wonderful Michigan State University. Ryan has been here for a little less than a month and OMGoodness, it that a good thing. Poor kid has been such a help and such good company for his old momma! Chelsi is here too, but working a 2 week shift on the slope too. ( As well as Kyle, who has also been a great help.) Lots of changes for us and our friends. And it is still raining!

In Christ’s name, Amen

Day 9 Words of Comfort

God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, to the end that all that believe in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
This is a true saying, and worthy of all men to be received, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. 1 Timothy 1:15
If any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous; and he is the perfect offering for out sins, and not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:1-2

Day 6 Healing

Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve your sick servants, and give your power of healing to those who minister to their needs, that those for whom our prayers are offered may be strengthened in their weakness and have confidence in your loving care; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Day 5 Relief

Dear Father, Hallowed be thy name. Relief is just one of my earthly rewards when I give myself to you. Thank you for the story of Simon when he answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” (Luke 5:5) Help me remember that no matter how hard I work…it is You and only You who can fill our nets so full that they break. There is nothing to fear with You as our Navigator, Father and Friend. Help me to take a deep breath, let it all out, and relax in Your Truth, in Jesus’ name. Amen

Day 4 Too busy!

Day 4 Prayer for “Business-Being too busy”
O LORD, Thou knowest how busy I must be today, if I forget Thee do not Thou forget me; for Christ’s sake. Amen ~Sir Jacob Astley
Dear God, Wonderful is your Word. Help us to take the time needed to put you first, to consider what you want us to do and experience in each day that you have given us. May we hear Joshua as he says,”Come here and listen to the words of the LORD your God.” (Joshua 3:9). Teach us not to be so distracted as to miss the only thing that is needed. Thank you for not forgetting about me. Amen

January has been a busy month!

APWC is having our annual fundraiser on Feb. 13, so have been busy with that. Making a recipe book with the scrap group, placecards for the 2 bp tables, favor boxes, posters for auction items, beautiful frames, and various other fun things!
Ryan was home til the 16th, and Kelli was with us til the 9th. Chelsi and Kyle just got back yesterday from the slope, and Mike is in AZ after 4 days in the UK! Doing 2 different bible Studies- "Reasons for God" and "A Study of Acts". Our church Potluck is this Sunday followed by the annual meeting. Great luncheon with a wonderful speaker last Wednesday. Mahjongg on Thursday and I am hosting. Recently did the "Gavel Games" which benefits AYC, and our team came in second...what a blast! We celebrated Burn's Supper in style at the Sheraton. And we also enjoyed the "Fire and Ice" gala very much! Everyone always says that Jan. and Feb. are long, with nothing to do...I don't think so!

Cheese Party at my House!

Pretty colours of the inlet!

So much fun today! Spent about 2 hours chatting, laughing, and eating cheese with my book club buddies. We had read "The Cheese Chronicles" by Liz Thorpe. Not our normal read, but lots of fun! Gave my copy to Stephanie, but will eventually pass it on to both Chelsi and Kelli. I think they will really enjoy it too! We sampled Marco Polo, No Woman, Flagship, Flagship Jack, Laura Chenel's Che'vre, Point Reyes Original Blue, and then Paige brought some Swedish Farmers Cheese and Stephanie brought some Wis. Aged Sharp Cheddar. All were yum! Paired them with almonds, mint jelly, olive relish, honey, apple slices, raspberry jam, kalamata olives, and of course crackers! Missed Kay and Susan. Reading "The Help" for next month.
